The powerful 12-amp motor combined with five spinning brushes that operate at either high or low speed lift the usual dirt and grime out of carpets. By pulling on the trigger in the comfortable upright handle, this deep cleaner releases the included carpet/upholstery cleaner and hot tap water. For more stubborn stains or for high-traffic areas, this SteamVac also has a Clean Surge feature, which sends an extra blast of cleaning solution into the stain by simply pressing a button on the handle. Ssssoooooo Much better than my Bissell July 4, 2009

Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac with Clean Surge WOW ! I'm so impressed with this cleaner. My second Bissell (it worked about 9 times before breaking) seamed to be doing a good job, the water WAS dirty, but after it broke and I decided to switch brands....WOW, what a noticable difference the Hoover made. I thought the grey-ish traffic stains on my beige carpet were just permanent (after all, I had been using a Bissell for a few years and the stains never came up) but just going over the carpet once,and the bad traffic areas twice, the carpet looks like NEW !!! I'm still in shock at what an excellent job the Hoover did. Also... the Bissell was such a pain to fill and clean, but the Hoover is SO easy to use, fill and clean that I keep thinking I'm forgetting a step. I'm so happy I don't have to buy new carpet...because now it looks like new carpet. I could do a commercial for this most excellent product.

I had been thinking of getting a carpet cleaner for several years and put if off. Enter a sick dog and well...you can take it from there. It came in 3-4 days with free delivery! It's easy to use, though if you have to do a couple of rooms with stains to go over, your wrist could be sore! The directions are easy to follow and it also has a long cord. I bought it based on Amazon reviews and concur with the majority. I've only used it four times so I can't speak to its durability but using it is easy and rewarding! (i.e. clean carpets!)

This is the 2nd carpet shampooer I've owned. I love it! It works great -makes the carpet look nice and carpet dries very quickly. It got rid of ink stains and nasty stains on the steps. Hopefully, it will last more than 2 years, but even so, at this price, it's an incredible deal!

I based my decision on weight of the cleaner and reading reviews.

Read the manual thoroughly before operating device.
